Review from Yelp: "I've only had takeout from Pho King II, so I can't say much about the physical establishment. But just like pretty much every other review I can attest, their Bun Bo Hue is holy cat shit....INCREDIBLE! Anytime you see someone panting like a dog, with noodles and broth all over their face and hair, you can say to yourself "that man just had a damn fine meal", and you'd be right.....well, depending on the circumstances of course.
I am fairly certain that they came up with their name as a way to market to white guys. Nothing is funnier than telling your bros you just ate at a place called Pho King, I'm telling you. I'm sure some will actually park just to check in real quick on Facebook."
Review from Yelp: "I came here on Christmas Day and whatta ya know, they were open, along with the other Vietnamese businesses that are on Stockton blvd. this restaurant is pretty big. the customer service is what is to be expected of a Vietnamese server at a Vietnamese restaurant, attentive for the first five minutes and never to be seen again. it's not like i needed anything anyways nor did i want anything.
They were pretty busy since it was Christmas day but my order did not take long to come out.
I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, large, because I was really hungry. Yummy in my tummy. Next to my mother's version, the flavor of the soup is the closest i have tasted to my mother's. I'm not saying it was similar though, just the closest. I will be back again for the Bun Bo Hue and this place will be the only place where i will order this dish because a lot of other places tend to make it bland."
Review from Yelp: "There's only one thing I get here and it's their bun bo hue, spicy beef noodle soup, because it is so freakin' good! When I feel like having some simple and authentic bun bo hue, this is the only place I resort to in Sacramento. For people unfamiliar with this soup, its distinct broth ingredients are lemongrass, beef, and Thai chili. A bowl of bun bo hue includes beef shank slices, pork hock, and a cooked congealed pork blood cube. If you're not open to the idea of congealed pork blood, I would just ask them to not include it in your bowl. The bun bo hue is not too spicy, but just right. I really like the bun bo hue here because the broth is rich in flavor and has just enough spices that I don't have to add any other seasonings to it besides lime. That's really because I love lime. It could probably do without it too.
The interior of the restaurant is basic and the food is inexpensive. Like other family-owned Vietnamese restaurants, the service is prompt and their is no kissing ass to the customers. The servers won't tell you their name and try to convince you to have dessert or anything like that, and I like it like that when I'm hungry and just want to eat!
This is a good place to dine in if you don't want anything fancy, but still would like something good. I also place take-out orders for bun bo hue when I'm in a rush. It tastes maybe even better when I take it home and reheat it!"
